OPS conducts NE File Cabinet training for Warren Township

by ksifferlen on Jun.29, 2010, under NE File Cabinet, Other

OPS has been conducting staff training for NE File Cabinet  for the Warren Township Small Claims Court in Indianapolis, Indiana.    This project is the result of  Warren Township Trustee Jeff Bennett’s vision to finally digitize and automate a previously 100% paper based court processes.

Through NE File Cabinet, the Warren Township staff is now able to import, scan, file, search and process information electronically without cumbersome paper files.  NE File Cabinet’s “scan & capture” application supports high-volume and complex scanning requirements, enabling the scanning and indexing of paper documents.   The web application provides document-level security to restrict access to sensitive information.   A redaction application removes sensitive information from documents, allowing redacted copies to be available to the public, when appropriate.  NE File Cabinet provides instant access to information through a web-based portal.  Because it is web based, the program provides disaster recovery of all data.

OPS looks forward to working with the Warren Township Small Claims Court  to meet their data management needs.

The court staff will have instant access to court documents and save time and money when processing court cases. The township will efficiently store approximately 8,000 court files annually.

When looking to create a department-wide system to efficiently capture millions of documents annually in a variety of formats including numerous paper and electronic file conditions, the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) turned to the NE File Cabinet by OPS.

By building upon the NE FrameWork, OPS created a custom solution – IDEM calls it their “Virtual File Cabinet” – to meet all of IDEM’s document management needs.

According to Scott Nally, IDEM’s Assistant Commissioner, Office of External Affairs: “Open Portal Solutions not only offered us a practical solution, but continually provides maintenance and software solutions as our needs change.  OPS offers smart solutions to all of our needs at IDEM.”

IDEM has released a great how-to tutorial for their Virtual File Cabinet.  Enjoy!
